Great Pirate Ship Our son, who just turned 3 is obsessed with pirates, so we have alot of pirate toys around the house. This ship is great! It is very durable, which says alot coming from our household. Jackson is very active and not very "gentle" with his toys, but this ship has held up. I would definately recommend this ship!!! : 2011-06-10 03:00:41
COOLEST PIRATE SHIP This pirate ship is awesome! My son plays with this daily. The ship is very large. realistic and, of course, very durable as are all Playmobil toys. As far as putting it together, it was easy and my son enjoyed helping. There's lots of detail, like a hiding place in the hull, you can remove the top deck where the wheel is- there is a compartment underneath with dining area, benches and table. The sails are cloth and move. Combined with the playmobil take-along pirate island, there's hours of fun to be had! Very good imaginative play- no annoying, loud sounds, bells and whistles- just your child's imagination. It's great! : 2011-06-10 03:00:10
Well designed and thought out My kids have played with this and earlier versions of playmobile ships. They loved them all, and play with them longer than you would think, age wise. They float, are well balanced in the water, durable, and cool to boot.
There are a huge volume of toys that go to goodwill in short order, but these Playmobile ships have incredible staying power. : 2011-06-10 02:59:38
Great buy This is a great pirate ship for young kids. We bought it for my 5-year-old, who loves it, as does his 3-year old brother. Lots of details and pirates. I was looking at this ship, and the more expensive Playmobil pirate ship. I'm definitely glad I bought this one -- has all the details my boys adore, but a better price tag. I definitely recommend this as a great toy. My boys have been playing with their Playmobil toys for a few years -- they are still the toys they play with the most. And, they are so great for their imagination. : 2011-06-10 02:31:44
Excellent This is Playmobil's middle of the line pirate ship, and the oldest, first released in 1990; but Playmobil keeps giving it new legs by releasing it in different trims and color schemes.
1) All Playmobil products are of the highest quality. Everything is well made, thought out, and designed by this great company which has been popular in Europe for many years but only relatively recently in the US. Playmobil is the Mercedes of toy brands.
2) Most of the ship is not too hard to put together, but the sails and rigging might prove fiddly for a few. With the younger kids, you should probably leave off the rigging and the sails and keep all the accessories in the box first. You can play just as well without them.
3) The play quality and play value of this ship is immensely high because there are so many accessories, and because this ship is so well designed with a captain's cabin, a hold, cannons, sails, etc. Having said that, this ship is not for any child under 7 or so, but once they get above that age, they should be completely enthralled with it if they like pirates.
4) If this is your first Playmobil ship, you can also look at the Playmobil pirate corsair, which is a simpler flush decked ship and cheaper too.
5) The great secret about this ship and Playmobil in general is that there are tons of add ons. You can buy additional pirates to beef up your crew or government forces to fight against them, plus forts and additional cannons, etc. You can even buy different sails to go with this ship. This ship will grow with your child. If you have any questions about Playmobil there are several guides, catalogs and forums where you can hang out with like minded people.
6) Lastly, if you like this color scheme you shouldn't wait because Playmobil changes the color trims and scheme of this ship and doesn't bring the old schemes back. If you prefer a simpler ship you can look at the Corsair. If you have already bought this ship and enjoy it, you should consider looking at the big Playmobil pirate ship. Have fun! : 2011-06-10 02:31:14
Playmobil Skull Pirate Ship Playmobil has once again put out an excellent toy. My 10 year-old was able to follow the directions and assemble the ship easily by herself. My children ages ranging from 4-12 all love playing "Pirates" together. This set is great as a stand alone or with other available Playmobil sets. Made of high-quality durable plastic. : 2011-06-10 02:30:45
SO COOL SHIP I got this ship. It is so cool! Besides coming with 3 very cool looking pirates, the ship itself is amazingly good quality.(But pretty much all of Playmobil's stuff is amazing quality!)Anyway, this also comes with a blue & yellow parrot,a cannon that actually fires when you press the button & the ball flys out! There is also a high-quality anchor that you can actually pull up by turning a wheel. You can also take off some of the top & go below deck. There is also a place on the deck you can lift up & put things in.Many little detailed accessories that your figure can hold also come with this set,as well as stickers to put on your ship if you want to.There is also a crows nest for a Pirate to climb up & look out from.I recommend this set & other playmobil sets!! This one is definently worth it! : 2011-06-10 02:30:18
My Son loves this ship Both my boys, aged 6 and 3 (the younger being a little under-ag for this toy) simply love this toy. It's robust and is hanging in there so far (about a month into the deluge). There are MANY small parts so my sofa has also been enjoying the toy, but the good news is there are so many parts the boys don't seem to notice when one or two go missing.
My only complaint is that the mechanism for weighing the anchor is a bit lame, but they seem to enjoy "fixing" it each time it pops off the deck.

Love's this toy The Playmobil Pirates sets are perfect for young children with vivid imaginations. This is my 4 year old's favorite toy. We spend countless hours sailing the high seas together. He has selected the 'skeleton' from the Pirate Island set as his own personae and we call him Captain Bones. The ship is very well made and has withstood many dramatic battles against "the bad pirates". The details are what he most enjoys, like the treasure, swords, goblets, lamps and other small items that come with these sets. Whenever I chase down Captain Bones with the shark figure, trying to take a bite of his boney leg, my son laughs with joy. And that makes this set my favorite toy as well: most of the time I am watching him and the smiles rather than the pirate my son has assigned me. You will get months and months of use out of this set.
UPDATE: He is now 6 years old, and STILL plays with this set a whole bunch. A couple pieces have broken now after almost a year and a half of very heavy play, but it has held up well to use and still maintains its quality. The small hook on the bowspirit (the pointy mast on the bow) broke, so the foresail doesn't attach anymore, but he doesn't seem to mind. The shark is still trying to catch Captain Bones almost daily :)
FINAL UPDATE: It has been four years since my first review of this toy, and my son is approaching 9 years old, all too quickly. Sometime this past year, this toy finally stopped coming out of the toy box for adventures on the seven seas. He has just moved on now to other toys, as children will do, like skateboards, computer games, footballs... This past week, I gathered all of the items that were left, some having slipped into the maelstrom of the couch no doubt, and placed them in the 'yard sale bin'. This toy was worth so much to a father and his son. Its value goes far beyond simple play time adventures we had together. Four years of solid play: a rarity in such a confused, fast-paced world. Fare thee well, Captain Bones: may your hull be forever sound, with a strong wind at your back, and bright stars to sail her by. : 2011-06-10 02:16:39
awed mom whew! i just put this thing together and i have to say it is THE coolest. it took me probably an hour (only because i am not that good at nautical knots) and i am really impressed with the quality of this toy. the detail is incredible. the price is very affordable, especially considering the quality of this ship.
i was looking for a muti-purpose "pirate ship" and bought this particular ship because of the playmobil name, the great price, and the fact that it floats as well as rolls around on wheels. it's really hard to find bath toys for a five year old.
i can't give you feedback as far as my son (soon to be five) is conserned because it is a bithday gift (now how do i wrap this??). but honestly if he dosent like it; i am apt to keep it for myself!
i plan to buy maybe a castle or the vacation home next. i just hope he lets me play with them once in awhile!!!!
tip: as with most playmobil sets, give yourself an hour or two to assemble them if you would like your child to be able play with them as soon as they get them.
p.s. this toy does come with 5 hand guns. since this is a concern of mine, by putting it together before giving it to him i had the opportunity to toss these before he gets his hands on them. plus, i will tell him the swords and knifes that come with it are for cutting up fish and fruit to keep away scurrvey.
oh yeah, and of course all the treasure that is stolen by the pirates is distributed to the poor!! : 2011-06-10 02:16:14
Playmobil Skull pirate ship...very detailed great fun Great toy only thing is that there are tons of tiny parts so if u have a kid who loses everything or puts things in their mouth dont get it. If ur child is into imaginitive play like mine this will be a hit for sure. Its very detailed and has many great things about it. The sails are cloth the cannon works and there is even a grappling hook that the men can hold onto. Love Playmobil! The take along island goes great with it as well. : 2010-09-16 01:12:30
Comes apart to easily! If you are looking for a ship that the pieces stay on after you put it together this is not it. We got this ship for my son for Christmas and we are very disappointed. All of the good reviews are misleading. This ship takes about an hour to put together but the sails come off easily and so do many of the parts. This would be a great creative toy but your child is too busy trying to make it look like a pirate ship and keep the pieces on the ship. Needless to say we are in search of something more sturdy. Too bad bacause it is such a great looking ship! : 2010-09-16 01:12:30
